One Thousand and One Nights - Shahrazad
One Thousand and One Nights, known by its central character, Scheherazade (English spelling), is an ancient collection of mythological tales varying widely: they include historic tales, love stories, tragedies, comedies, poems and various forms of erotica. Shahrazad, promised bride to a fictional, formerly betrayed King, spins tales for 1001 nights keeping the King enthralled, avoiding beheading at dawn. Each evening she spins a new story. After 1001 nights the King trusts her. They are wed.
